Webinar: a new sales channel for the bicycle industry

Cycle tourism is becoming an increasingly interesting market for those who manufacture and distribute bicycles, too. People who travel by bike buy, rent and try out products, and they often decide what to purchase while on holiday. To understand how companies in the sector can tap into this demand, Bikenomist is organising the webinar “Cycle Tourism: the business case for the bicycle industry”, scheduled for Tuesday 24 November 2026 at 15:00, in collaboration with Venicepromex and the Padua Chamber of Commerce.

Participation is free of charge with prior registration, and the webinar will be held in English. The link to join will be sent by email one week before the event.

Programme and speakers

The first part of the webinar provides an overview of the market. Paul Walsh of European Cycling Industries will talk about trends in the European bicycle market, Agathe Daudibon of the European Cyclists’ Federation will describe the growth of the EuroVelo network, Paolo Bulleri of ISNART will present data on the economic impact of cycle tourism in Italy, and Paolo Pinzuti of Bikenomist will focus on what cycle tourists are looking for and what they need.

This will be followed by a round table on business models and return on investment, with Herman Van Beveren (Decathlon), Raphaël Masbo (Lokki), Stefano Giuliodori (Hotel Dori Riccione), Sebastian Perello (Wheelssport Mallorca) and Daniele Manetti (Visit Flanders). Particular attention will be paid to rental, which for many cycle tourists works like an extended test ride and can shape their subsequent purchases.

Who it is for

The event is designed for business owners and sales, marketing, product and business development managers at companies that manufacture or distribute bikes and e-bikes, components, accessories, technical clothing, and fleet and rental solutions. Naturally, however, it is also open to public bodies, destinations, associations and anyone interested.

The webinar is also a first step towards the Cycle Tourism Show 2027, taking place in Padua from 19 to 21 March, where the dialogue between the bicycle industry and the tourism supply chain will be given ample space.

Register for the webinar free of charge: you will receive the link to join a few days before the event.
