In recent years, Veneto has definitely established itself as one of Italy’s most dynamic and innovative regions in terms of cycle tourism.
The region now offers an increasingly extensive network of cycle paths, with routes connecting cities of art, natural areas, small villages, and rural areas. At the same time, the infrastructure and services supporting cycle tourists are also constantly growing.
This is a sign of a growing awareness of the value of cycling tourism: Veneto is investing in an alternative model of mobility that enhances the region, boosts the local economy, and responds to a growing demand for sustainable and accessible travel experiences.
It is no coincidence that the Cycle Tourism Show, after one edition in Milan and three in Bologna, will arrive in Padua in 2026 and plans to stay there until 2028: a choice that recognizes the work done and, at the same time, proposes a new challenge for the area and its inhabitants.

The regional context: cycling tourism routes and investments
Cycle tourism is emerging as one of the most promising forms of contemporary tourism: a way of traveling that combines respect for the environment, slow exploration of the territory, and enhancement of local economies. Thanks to its well-structured network of cycle routes, varied landscapes, and experience in managing cycle paths, Veneto is one of the most active Italian regions in promoting this form of sustainable mobility.
One of the most emblematic examples is the Euganean Hills Cycle Ring: a route of about 63 kilometers that surrounds the hills of the Regional Park. The route, which is entirely paved and well signposted, connects small towns, spa areas, vineyards, and sites of historical and cultural interest. Ideal even for those with little cycling experience or for families, it is a clear example of light mobility perfectly integrated into the natural and cultural context, with concrete benefits for tourism and the local economy.
Another significant project, much more recent and constantly evolving, is the Treviso–Ostiglia Cycle Route, created from the restoration of a disused railway line. Stretching over 70 kilometers, it crosses the central areas of Veneto, connecting rural areas and small towns through a safe cycling infrastructure equipped with rest areas, shaded sections, and information panels. It is an excellent example of the intelligent recovery of infrastructure heritage, transformed into a resource for the community.
In addition to the main routes, the region is also organizing complementary services: from the possibility of renting electric bicycles to the presence of charging points, bike-friendly accommodation, and integrated connections with public transport. The goal is to build a comprehensive, accessible, and high-quality cycle tourism system.
The Veneto model stands out precisely for its ability to integrate infrastructure, services, and local storytelling, offering an experience that perfectly meets the needs of the contemporary cycle tourist.

Ideas for other regions and international development
The Veneto model is a concrete example that can be replicated in other Italian regions, thanks to an approach that integrates functioning infrastructure, dedicated services, and solid collaboration between institutions, companies, and the local community. The presence of high-profile events such as the Cycle Tourism Show is a clear sign of how synergies and moments of unity can be generated to support the growth of the sector.
Another particularly interesting aspect is the strategic position of Veneto, which can become a starting point for international development. Thanks to its network of routes and proximity to other important European corridors, the region can promote connections with the rest of Europe, in addition to its already strong interregional collaborations, creating a solid and constantly growing network. This approach not only strengthens the attractiveness of Veneto, but also that of the entire Italian cycle tourism system in the European and global context.
In short, Veneto is now more than ever a key territory for the bicycle sector and for all those who want to give a chance to a new way of traveling, one that is more attentive to people and territories. For this reason, we are proud to have chosen this region as the new home of the Cycle Tourism Show. Will you come and visit us?
