Angelofabio Attolico is a PhD in post-classical archaeology at the University of Bari.
He has several scientific publications in the field of Cultural Heritage to his credit. He is among the authors, in the field of cultural and environmental heritage, of the Strategic Plan for Culture of the Puglia Region 2017–2026 and has collaborated as a consultant in the implementation of cooperation and excellence projects. He has contributed to the drafting of regulations concerning Routes (Cammini) of several Italian regions.
Today he works at the Directorate of the Department of Tourism and Culture of the Puglia Region and at the Pugliapromozione Agency, where he deals with sustainable tourism, routes, cycling tourism, and cultural itineraries.
He is the technical project manager in two Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe: the Via Francigena and the Phoenicians’ Route. In the two-year period 2020–2021 he was a member, appointed by Minister Franceschini, of the Standing Committee for the Promotion of Tourism in Italy under the Ministry of Cultural Heritage. In the three-year period 2021–2023 he was confirmed in the same body at the Ministry of Tourism.
He was the founder of the six routes of the Cammino Materano and of the Via Michaelica project. He is co-founder and vice president of the National Network of Southern Routes. For Terre di Mezzo Editore he is the author of guides concerning Routes.
