Valposchiavo develops on the border with Valtellina between the municipality of Campocologno, at about 500 meters, and the rugged landscapes on the eastern slope of the Bernina massif at over 2000 meters. Charming villages with churches and patrician houses, which bear witness to past eras, alternate with side valleys, such as the protected area of Val di Campo.
Valposchiavo has been able to make the most of its resources with a project that concerns the entire agri-food chain, from the land to the table: the “100% Valposchiavo” project promotes local products and organic agriculture involving over 97% of the cultivated surface. Aware that the environment is an asset to be protected, Valposchiavo has developed a slow and quality tourism that focuses on two wheels with more than 30 itineraries.
Valposchiavo is the ideal starting point for experiencing the bicycle in all its forms. Among the MTB classics, we recommend the Bernina Express Trail or even the route to the solitary Val di Campo. On June 13, 2026, Valposchiavo hosts the NOVA Eroica Switzerland for the first time. You pedal in the silence of centuries-old coniferous forests, in a valley where history and traditions mix.
The Rhaetian Railway operates a network of approximately 385 kilometers that connects every corner of the Canton of Graubünden. The natural continuation of the Bernina line (Tirano-St. Moritz) is the Albula railway line, also a UNESCO World Heritage site, which leads from St. Moritz to Chur, the capital of the Canton of Graubünden and the oldest city in Switzerland. It is served by hourly trains in both directions and has a large availability of seats, including for groups and bicycles.
When fatigue sets in, the characteristic little red trains bring cyclists and bikes back to the starting destination. With the Graubünden Pass Bike, you can use the entire network to explore, for example, the Albula Valley with the characteristic villages of Bergün and Filisur, next to the Landwasser Viaduct, or explore the area of Thusis and the Viamala.
