Terres Monviso is the cross-border project that connects Italy and France to enhance the tourism offer by networking operators, routes, and territories. Included in the project are the Infernotto, Po, Varaita, Maira, Grana, and Stura valleys and the Saluzzo plain on the Italian side, as well as Guillestrois, Ubaye, and Queyras on the French side.
This area has a strong tourism vocation linked to cycling, thanks to the sporting successes of the Tour de France and the Giro d’Italia achieved on the more than 16 mountain passes in this region. There are numerous routes and about 3,000 km of cycling trails around Monviso, along with a cycle tourism network for both sports enthusiasts and families, covering 6 valleys in the Province of Cuneo and 4 in France. This cross-border area stands out as an exciting destination for road bike and MTB lovers.
Legendary Climbs
Legendary Climbs is the cycle tourism event that allows all enthusiasts to challenge themselves on the climbs of the Monviso region.
These are the same climbs that have ignited great stage races, from the Giro d’Italia to the Tour de France during its Italian “escapes.” On roads closed to traffic, using either a traditional or electric bike, cyclists can tackle the famous Colle Fauniera, Colle dell’Agnello, and Pian del Re, along with Colle di Sampeyre and Montoso in Bagnolo Piemonte. This thrilling six-day cycling experience in the lands at the foot of Monviso takes place in July. Hospitality is guaranteed with travel packages that include accommodation, bike storage, bike washing, and special cyclist-friendly breakfasts.
