The History of Riese & Müller

Riese & Müller is a German company founded in 1993 by Markus Riese and Heiko Müller, two friends who met while studying mechanical engineering in Darmstadt in 1988. Their passion for mechanics, cycling, and travel initially led them to develop the Birdy, a foldable bicycle with full suspension, which won the Hessian Special Innovation Award in 1993.

Multicharger model

Following its initial success, the company expanded its product range, introducing models for urban use and cycle touring. In 2008, Riese & Müller began integrating electric motors into its bicycles, increasingly focusing on e-bikes. Today, the company is globally recognized for its high-quality electric bicycles.

A significant innovation has been the adoption of DualBattery technology, which allows the parallel use of two Bosch batteries, extending e-bike range up to 1,500 Wh. This solution has been implemented in several models, such as the Superdelite, ideal for demanding excursions, high-altitude routes, or steep off-road trails.
