Enhancing local economies and experiences of connection with the territory, positioning itself as a destination for wellness and sustainability, promoting cycle tourism as a key element of development. Every year Piedmont adds pieces to the many proposals for tourism on two wheels. Alongside the major international events — such as the two Étape Italy by Tour de France in the Cuneo area (Étape Piemonte on May 31 in Entracque and Étape Mondovì on September 20) and the routes dedicated to history and culture on the paths of legendary champions — new initiatives are added to the heritage of routes for every level and to already established projects, such as the network of cycle paths “Pedala il Piemonte” which enhances highly valuable areas across the entire territory.
At the center of attention for 2026 are the Piedmont Gran Fondos — showcases that bring the region to the national and international stage: some of those already scheduled will become in the coming months ‘tests’ for initiatives promoting the territory and its cycling resources to the wide audience that always characterizes these events.
Among the other main novelties, there is the tourist development of bike routes of the Historical Mountain Routes in the territories of Cuneo and Turin, the creation in Biella of a large network of services with 50 businesses and local entities expressly dedicated to cycle tourism, and the three new strategic cycle routes Alba-Canelli, Stupinigi-Venaria, and Stresa-Verbania, which by 2027 will enhance the cycle tourism offer and sustainable mobility: 90 km of new infrastructure are planned that will valorize UNESCO landscapes, Savoy Royal Residences, and Lake Maggiore.
