Imagine setting off at dawn, the sun illuminating the crystalline lakes and the profiles of the Alps on the horizon, while your bike glides on perfect trails through vineyards, woods, and historic villages. Ticino is much more than a destination: it is a land that lives by bicycle, from family routes along the lakes to exciting challenges for the more experienced on mountain paths and passes. With well-marked cycle paths, itineraries for every level, and bike-friendly services spread across the entire territory, cycling here becomes a complete experience: nature, culture, and gastronomy intertwine in an unforgettable adventure on two wheels.
In addition to a network of over 180 kilometers of asphalt cycle paths, Ticino also boasts more than 815 kilometers of mountain bike trails divided into 28 itineraries, classified by difficulty and accessible to beginners and expert riders, up to the technical single trail routes. On the SvizzeraMobile platform, it is possible to plan every outing in advance, selecting routes that cross wild valleys, run alongside lakes and rivers, and lead to historic villages where you can enjoy a break dedicated to local gastronomy. The offer is completed by over 45 e-bike charging stations, more than 60 equipped bike hotels distributed throughout the cantonal territory, and a good 18 ski lifts that, from the south to the north of the Canton, offer the possibility of comfortably transporting your bicycle: an extra advantage for exploring even the high-altitude routes without sacrificing comfort.
Ready to ride? Here are four itineraries to add to your bucket list right away.
Carì Bike – The perfect panoramic loop for everyone

This MTB route (SvizzeraMobile 394), an approximately 11 km loop, is perfect for those looking for a panoramic, not overly technical ride in the heart of the Ticino Alps. From the Molare nucleus, you gradually climb towards the Carì ski lifts and, if desired, you can use the chairlift to avoid part of the ascent. A fun single trail starts from the Carì 2000 station, which, crossing fir forests, small lakes, and bucolic clearings, returns to the starting point on an asphalt road, immersing bikers in breathtaking alpine landscapes without requiring high technical skills.
Cancorì Bike – Alpine adventure in the Valle di Blenio

Cancorì Bike (SvizzeraMobile 383) instead offers a more demanding and adventurous experience in the splendid Valle di Blenio. The approximately 24 km route, with over 1,000 m of elevation gain, initially follows cycle paths and asphalt roads before climbing towards the Nara amphitheater, with the possibility of using the chairlift to save energy. A long descent then starts from the heights of Cancorì on a single trail immersed in vegetation down to the picturesque village of Leontica, with unparalleled views of the valley and the Adula glacier. This route requires good technical and physical preparation, rewarding riders with spectacular alpine scenery.
Cardada Bike – Panorama and flow above Lake Maggiore
The Cardada Bike trail (SvizzeraMobile 397) is an epic experience for those who love mountain biking with breathtaking views. This loop route starts and returns to Locarno, first taking you on a panoramic climb up to Monte Brè with a view of the Centovalli, and then immersing you in a fast and fun single trail that crosses woods and green valleys until it reaches Val Resa, passing by Alpe Cardada. The combination of climbs, technical descents, and flowing sections creates a perfect mix for experienced bikers looking for adrenaline, with unique glimpses of Lake Maggiore and the city below. For those who want to save energy and enjoy only the descent, the Locarno-Orselina funicular and the cable car up to Cardada offer an impeccable alternative to the first climb.

Monti Motti Bike – technical adrenaline and spectacular views
If you are looking for technique, adrenaline, and postcard landscapes, Monti Motti Bike (SvizzeraMobile 396) is the right trail for expert bikers. Starting from Gordola, the asphalt climb towards Monti Motti offers splendid views of Lake Maggiore before tackling a single trail immersed in the woods. The descent is a succession of flowing sections and more challenging passages that test balance and control, with natural drops, rock gardens, and curves carved into the rock. Shortly before the halfway point of the route, the evocative cluster of Bazzadee rustic houses, with its panoramic lake view, is the perfect place to take a photo or a moment of rest. A dynamic experience that combines technique and fun in full Ticino style.
There is a Ticino that is best discovered on two wheels: the one with sudden views, fragrant woods, villages that seem straight out of a postcard, and delicious stops that make every kilometer even more memorable. Whether you choose one of the trails mentioned above, a gravel route in the Lugano area or the Monte San Giorgio itinerary in Mendrisiotto, one thing is certain: every outing here turns into an experience.
