Associate Professor at the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (DiSAA) of the University of Milan, where he teaches, in the Master’s Degree courses, “Land planning”, “Soft mobility infrastructures for sustainable tourism”, “Design of green areas for well-being”, and “Territorial planning”. He is Coordinator of the Disabled and DSA Service for DiSAA.
He conducts research on topics related to territorial planning, landscape and green area design; soft and active mobility, with particular attention to the planning and design of greenways; the evaluation of ecosystem services related to green areas and greenways, and the relationship between human well-being and contact with nature.
He is a reviewer for several national and international bodies and international scientific journals.
He is President of the European Greenways Association (EGWA) and Vice President of the Italian Greenways Association; “Corresponding Academician” of the Accademia dei Georgofili, member of the National Institute of Urban Planning (INU), the Italian Association of Landscape Architecture (AIAPP), the Italian Association of Agricultural Engineering (AIIA), and the Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture (ANFA). He is a founding member and member of the Restricted Management Committee of the Alliance for Soft Mobility.
In 2022, he was appointed, by Ministerial Decree, member of the Expert Group of the Organizational Structure for the Ecological Transition of Mobility and Infrastructure of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
He is registered in the Register of Agronomists and Foresters of Milan. He is the author of more than 115 publications and has been supervisor or co-supervisor of approximately 125 theses. He has participated as a speaker in about 140 conferences, in Italy and abroad.
