Trabocchi Cycle Network

Explore Abruzzo on two wheels

Born from a project by the Abruzzo Region and GAL Costa dei Trabocchi, the Trabocchi Cycle Network is a diverse route winding through low-traffic secondary roads, rural paths, paved and unpaved sections, river trails, and hilly landscapes, passing through vineyards, nature reserves, and historic towns.

With over 300 km of well-signposted cycling routes, designed for exploration in every season, this ever-evolving project enhances sustainable tourism in the region. Thanks to a system of loop routes, cyclists can ride between the spectacular Via Verde della Costa dei Trabocchi and the inland areas, with 9 railway stations providing excellent bike + train intermodality.

Trabocchi Cycle Network: Exploring Abruzzo on Two Wheels

  • Percorso Zero – Adriatic Cycle Route: A breathtaking ride along the entire coastline, including the 42 km of the Via Verde, following the iconic trabocchi, the historic wooden fishing structures.
  • Northern Area: Beyond the main road, a surprising landscape of dune beaches, vineyards, olive groves, and ancient mills, with historical ties to San Tommaso.
  • Central Area: A route connecting the sea and the hills, charming villages, waterways, and architectural gems, creating a continuous dialogue between the coast and the ridges.
  • Southern Area: Rural paths weave through welcoming countryside, rolling valleys, mountain views, and beaches adorned with the rare Sea Chamomile.
  • Hills and Vineyards: Scenic trails parallel to the coastline, where the lush green hills meet the deep blue sea, perfect for round trips or connections to other routes within the network.
