Upslowtour – Pinerolese, Land of Bikes: explore at a slow pace among landscapes, culture, and authentic flavors of the Turin Alps
Imagine a place where every pedal stroke tells a story, every climb gives you a breathtaking view, and every stop turns into a discovery. Welcome to the Pinerolese, the “Land of Bikes” less than an hour from Turin, where slowness becomes a value and the bicycle is the perfect means to discover an authentic Piedmont. With Upslowtour, this extraordinary corner opens up to cycle tourists in all its richness: hills and mountains, historic villages and castles, vineyards and alpine pastures. Routes for every type of cyclist, from sports challenges to the pleasure of a relaxed ride.
Upslowtour is an invitation to slow down
Created by the Unione Montana del Pinerolese in collaboration with local authorities and associations, Upslowtour is a cycling network that enhances territory, culture, and flavors. The name is already a statement of intent: “Up” because you go up (but without haste), “slow” because it is in slowness that the essence of places is discovered, “tour” because every route is a small journey into beauty.
Rides in every season
From the Cottian Alps to the plains, from the valleys of Chisone, Pellice, and Germanasca to the hill vineyards, the Pinerolese is a natural gym for those who love cycling. Thanks to a constantly updated digital platform, you will find maps, elevation profiles, points of interest, tourist tips, and suggestions for tasty and cultural stops. Physical signage and panels with QR codes will guide you along the routes, allowing you to deepen your knowledge of the territory with a simple gesture on your smartphone.
The routes are also available on Outdooractive (https://out.ac/ITpwHK).
Villages, nature, and artisanal knowledge: a perfect mix
Every itinerary is designed to give you a different experience. You can choose the quiet valley floor roads or venture into Val Pellice and Val Germanasca, among biodiversity, wild landscapes, and Waldensian culture. Or you can climb Val Chisone up to Fenestrelle, with its imposing Fortress, or reach Usseaux, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. There are also opportunities to discover artisan workshops, open-air museums, markets, and small local producers.
Bike Experience: a network tailored for you
The territory welcomes you with bike-friendly facilities, charging points and workshops for e-bikes, rentals, specialized shops, transport services, and cycle tourism guides. A network of dedicated operators makes the experience smooth, safe, and enjoyable.
Events, flavors, and sustainability
Cycling in the Pinerolese also means immersing yourself in its traditions: fairs, festivals, cultural and sports events animate the calendar. And then the flavors: alpine cheeses, local wines, traditional sweets, and genuine zero-kilometer products.
The unmissable route
All itineraries are worth visiting, but there is one that remains in the heart of MTB enthusiasts (muscular or electric): the Refuge Loop, a classic of Val Pellice. It can be tackled in a day, with a well-deserved break of polenta and beer at the refuge, or in two days with an overnight stay at altitude. The Barant Refuge, which this summer will be transformed into a true “bike chalet,” offers an extraordinary view: on one side Monviso, on the other the ridges toward France. The descent leads to the alpine botanical garden “Bruno Peyronel,” a gem among the highest in Europe. All information is at: https://www.upslowtour.it/anello/2/2-Anello-dei-rifugi
